Birmingham City University China Foundation Program

FOUNDATION

The undergraduate Foundation program is a mandatory stage within the British higher education system, located after the high school stage and before the three-year undergraduate stage, with a study period of one year, equivalent to the first year of a university in China. The undergraduate Foundation course is mainly aimed at students who have already obtained a high school or equivalent education in China. It teaches the basic knowledge and skills of art and design, enabling students to gain a preliminary understanding of the subject, change traditional learning methods, understand the characteristics of British education in advance, and carry out corresponding practice, in preparation for choosing a major in the upcoming undergraduate stage in the UK.

This undergraduate Foundation program is the only directly affiliated Foundation program of the School of Art and Design at Birmingham City University in China.

1One year domestic Foundation program: Based on the learning habits of Chinese students, introducing British education concepts, understanding professional basic knowledge, completing the transformation of learning methods, language improvement, visa guidance and other items.

3Three years of undergraduate studies in the UK: make reasonable use of studying abroad time, receive a complete British style undergraduate education, obtain a globally recognized bachelor's degree from a public university in the UK, and provide the most valuable intellectual investment and employment security.

Admission requirements: high school or equivalent or senior high school students studying simultaneously
Major requirements: We accept both art and non-art students. No unified art exam scores are required, but a certain level of artistic practice experience and creative interest are necessary, as well as passing AIVA's creative test
English level: refer to the English score of the college entrance examination (more than 100 points can be exempted from the entrance English test), or pass the AIVA internal entrance English test.

PRE-MASTER

The pre-master program in the UK is a one-year program designed specifically for international students without a UK undergraduate education background, to help them improve their professional and language abilities, and to welcome the intensive one-year master's program in the UK. Especially for students without an art learning background or transitioning majors, the pre master's program is a necessary stage of study before entering the formal master's program.

This pre-master program is the only directly affiliated Foundation program of the School of Art and Design at Birmingham City University in China.

1One year/half year domestic Foundation program: The course introduces the graduate teaching mode of Birmingham School of Art and Design, combined with individual face-to-face teaching by mentors and self-learning by students, to help students establish a solid background in undergraduate (professional) studies, establish personal topics, develop research contexts, expand expression forms, and enter the British style art graduate program in advance.
Note: The six-month Foundation program is only available for enrollment in art or design management majors.

1One year Master's degree in the UK: Maximizing study abroad time, receiving a complete British style graduate education, obtaining a globally recognized Master's degree from a public university in the UK, providing the most valuable intellectual investment and employment security.

Requirements

Admission requirements: College diploma (three-year program) or bachelor's degree, and can be studied simultaneously in the fourth or third year of college
Major requirements: Art related majors, or non art students with certain artistic practice experience and creative interest, and passing the major interview of the college
English proficiency: Those who have passed the College English Test Band 4 or achieved a score of 5 or above in the IELTS are exempt from the exam. Or pass the AIVA internal entrance English test.
